As a General Porter, you will support the smooth day-to-day operation of catering and hospitality services. Working as part of the wider team, you will help maintain high standards of cleanliness, food safety, and customer service across all outlets and facilities.

We are seeking a proactive and customer-focused Assistant Hospitality Manager to support the delivery of high-quality front of house operations within our Campus Services team at the 麻豆社.

About the role

In this role, you will manage the day-to-day running of your catering outlets, ensuring excellent customer service standards are consistently achieved while maintaining compliance with financial controls, Health & Safety, Licensing Law and HACCP requirements

You will lead and develop a team of hospitality staff, supporting recruitment, training and performance, while working collaboratively with the wider Hospitality management team to enhance our food and beverage offer and overall customer experience. You’ll also oversee stock, rotas and operational standards, ensuring an efficient, well-organised service in a fast-paced environment.

About you

We’re looking for someone with strong front of house management experience, a passion for delivering excellent service, and the ability to motivate and develop teams. Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities are essential, alongside a sound understanding of relevant legislation and financial processes.

Further information

This is a full-time role, working 36.5 hours per week.

The outlets are open 7 days a week and you will be required to work on a 5 out of 7 rotating pattern covering early mornings, evenings and weekends.

The University Hospitality Department provides catering services to students, staff, and external visitors throughout the academic year and into the summer months. There are numerous outlets run by the hospitality department offering a wide range of food and drink options. 

About the role

As a Food & Beverage Assistant you will be required to ensure that the day to day running of the catering operation is smooth and that customers are provided with a high standard of service at all times.

Your responsibilities will include

  • taking customer orders
  • serving food and drink
  • working on the tills
  • stocking food stations
  • assisting with cleaning and clearing tables and catering areas

You will have experience of providing an excellent standard of customer service in a customer focussed environment. Previous experience of working in the Hospitality industry would be an advantage. You will be a good team worker and be able to be calm and professional in high pressure situations, as it can be extremely busy during peak times.

This is a part-time role working 25 hours per week (5 hours per day) for 38 weeks per year (term-time only)

Hours will predominantly be worked Monday to Friday from 9.30am - 2.30pm or 3.30pm - 8.30pm, but could include early morning, evening and weekend shifts.

Fixed time off that includes your personal holiday allowance is in accordance with the University's annual Academic year chart:

  • 7 weeks off over Christmas and New Year
  • 2 weeks off over Easter
  • 3 weeks off in June (to be agreed with your line manager)
  • 2 weeks off between mid-August and mid-September (to be agreed with your line manager)

This is an exciting opportunity to support the delivery of sustainability initiatives across the University campus. The role combines environmental engagement, project coordination, and operational support, helping to create a positive culture of sustainability among students and staff.

You will lead and support campaigns such as Leave No Trace and Green Impact, coordinate events and volunteer activities, and help deliver initiatives focused on waste reduction, reuse, recycling, and sustainable behaviour change. Alongside engagement work, you will assist with the coordination of environmental service contracts including pest control, waste and recycling, and feminine hygiene services.

The role is varied and hands-on, requiring strong organisation, communication, and relationship-building skills. You will work closely with students, staff, contractors, and community partners to help drive sustainability projects and support the University’s environmental goals.
