QA8 Professional Accreditation

This Quality Assurance (QA) Code of Practice statement supports the approval and management of the professional accreditation of courses.


Regulations


Professional accreditation is official recognition awarded by an external professional or statutory body that the University or a course meets a specific standard or criteria. Applications for external (re)accreditation first require internal University approval.

Accredited status serves a variety of functions including:

  • recognition of the quality of the course
  • accreditation of courses for professional entry
  • statutory, with legal powers to represent
  • regulatory, with inspectorial function
