We have a track record of supporting successful applications and several of our current researchers hold fellowships.


You'll receive expert help in developing and preparing your application including:

  • advice on how to prepare your bid
  • peer review of your proposal
  • help with preparing your financial documents

Fellowship opportunities

If you meet the requirements to apply for these fellowships, we'll support you through the application process.


Deadlines: none

  • available for Post-doctoral Fellowships, Open Fellowships and Open Fellowships with a Plus component
  • post-doctoral Fellowships are open in specific areas
  • Open Fellowships are available across EPSRC remit and at all career stages
  • the Plus option allows you to spend 20-50% of your time on the fellowship to create positive culture change within the research community
  • allow 8 months from application to EPSRC for a decision

Deadline: September

  • the Academy welcomes applications from early-career researchers worldwide who have been awarded their PhD in the last four years. The scheme provides funding for five years.

Deadline: September

  • for early/mid-career stage (three to eight years postdoctoral experience) who do not have permanent position in EEA (European Economic Area)
  • must be EEA citizens or have EEA connection (e.g. postdoctoral position held)
  • five years with possibility for an extension of three years

Deadline: November

  • five years’ funding to support flexible working for early career stage (no more than six years post PhD) who do not have permanent position in EEA (European Economic Area)
  • must be EEA citizens or have EEA connection (e.g. postdoctoral position)

Deadline: March (sometimes different for particular countries)

  • run through British Academy, the Royal Academy of Engineering and the Royal Society for non-UK citizens who are not already working in the UK
  • two year fellowships with possibility for follow-up funding for 10 years specific country deadlines

Deadline: September

  • no limit on postdoc experience
  • must be working outside of the UK
  • need member of current staff to sponsor you

Deadline: February

  • two-year fellowships for recent PhDs (within two years of completion)

Deadline: March

  • funding for three years for those with UK degree
  • PhD submitted and less than five years postdoctoral experience must not have permanent post in the UK

Deadline (for request to participate): October

  • two years' funding
  • PhD awarded within five years and not in a permanent position application made by the institution

Deadline: March

  • one year project costs to supplement salary

Deadline: February

  • up to five years’ funding for researchers with two to seven years of postdoctoral experience funds a team of researchers
  • extra funding for applicants moving from non-EU countries

Deadline: March

  • up to five years’ funding
  • for researchers with eight to 12 years of postdoctoral experience funds a team of researchers
  • extra funding for applicants moving from non-EU countries

  • up to five years’ funding for researchers with 10 year record of achievement at a senior level
